Overseeing the dome’s driving mechanisms
Previous Top Next

Driver supervises the correctness of the dome’s driving mechanisms. The following parameters are checked:
- shutter’s opening time
- shutter’s closing  time
- shutter ‘s opening mechanism lock – if the shutter open well
- shutter ‘s closing mechanism lock – if the shutter close well
- dome’s rotation mechanism lock – if the dome rotate well.

Timeout or mechanism locking is signaled by an error message on the main screen. At the same time the engines (from the dome and the shutter’s driving systems) are turned off to avoid further damages.

Proper parameters of the drive mechanisms are defined in the Config > Dome window in the Dome Rotate and Movement Delays panel.
Parameters:
- the maximum time for the opening / closing the shutter (Max Shutter Opening Time) ,
- time of changes in the Open and Close sensor’s state after starting the shutter (Shutter Delay Start)
- minimum number of encoder’s pulses at a given time (Min Counter Delta)
- time to check if the dome rotates - the time during pulses are counted in (Time To Check).

The time that elapses between changes in the dome’s rotation direction (Stop Pause) is also defined  in the Movement Delays panel. This break is essential to complete stop the engine before restarting its work in the opposite direction.
