Calibrating the dome calibrating

Calibration of the dome provides a number of encoder counts attributable to the full rotation of the dome. It is a fully automated process that takes place in two phases:

1. In the first phase, the dome rotates in the CCW direction until it gets a signal from the Home sensor. At this point, the encoder counter is reset to zero.

2. In the second phase, the dome continues rotation in the CCW direction until it gets another signal from the Home sensor. At this point the encoder counter value is saved in Az Counter for 360° field. After saving this value the calibration procedure is completed.

Attention: The dome must not be manually controlled during the calibration!

Azimuth of the dome is calculated on the basis of the current encoder counter value according to the formula:

Az = AzCounter * AzCounterScale + HomeSensorPosition

where azCounterScale is the number of degrees per one the dome’s encoder counter count.

During each dome’s transition over the Home sensor the encoder counter value is reset to zero. It increases the accuracy of the dome’s azimuth measurement.
